How to Sign Up

For Yard Staff (Employee Onboarding)

  1. Onboarding: When your organization administrator adds you to the YardHawk system, they will enter your mobile phone number as part of your employment profile.
  2. Implied Consent for Operational Messages: As an employee using the YardHawk platform, providing your number for work purposes constitutes consent to receive essential, work-related operational SMS notifications required for your job function. This is not used for marketing.
  3. Confirmation: You'll receive a welcome SMS confirming your enrollment. (e.g., "Welcome to YardHawk alerts! Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.")
  4. Start Receiving: Begin getting PullTag notifications when equipment needs to be gathered.

For Rental Customers (Verbal Opt-In at Point of Sale)

Consent is collected verbally by staff when a customer is renting equipment. The staff member follows a script to ensure the customer understands what they are agreeing to.

Verbal Consent Script

Here is a simulation of the script our staff uses to obtain consent:

Staff: "To help you remember when your equipment is due back, we can send you a text message reminder. Is the number [customer's phone number] a good one to use for that?"

Customer: "Yes, that's fine."

Staff: "Great. You'll get a text a day or so before it's due. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can text STOP at any time to cancel the reminders. Is that okay?"

Customer: "Yes."

Staff: "Perfect. I've noted your consent in your rental agreement."

Consent is recorded in our system of record (Focal Point) and is associated with the customer's rental contract. The customer then receives a confirmation message.

Manual Opt-In (Keyword)

  1. Text START to our toll-free number: [Number will be assigned]
  2. You'll receive a confirmation message
  3. Provide your organization name and role when prompted (for staff) or confirm your upcoming rental (for customers).

Message Frequency

PullTag (Yard Staff): Variable frequency based on order volume. Typically 5-20 messages per day during peak operations.

ReturnPing (Customers): 1-2 messages per rental contract. First reminder 24 hours before due time, possible follow-up if overdue.

Important: Messages are transactional and operational only. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS.

Opt-Out Anytime

You can stop receiving messages at any time:

  • Text STOP: Reply STOP to any message from YardHawk
  • Contact Admin: Ask your organization administrator to disable SMS for your account
  • Email Support: Contact support@betaranch.com

After opting out, you'll receive one final confirmation message, then no further messages unless you choose to opt back in.

Privacy & Your Phone Number

We respect your privacy:

  • Your phone number is stored securely and encrypted
  • We never sell or share your number with third parties
  • Messages are sent only for operational purposes related to your equipment rentals
  • You can request deletion of your number at any time

Message & Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. YardHawk does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may charge for incoming text messages.

YardHawk SMS works with all major US and Canadian carriers including: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, Rogers, Bell, Telus, and more.

Carrier Liability

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to your carrier's network performance and device capabilities.

Important Terms

Consent: By providing your phone number, you explicitly consent to receive SMS messages from YardHawk as described above.

Not Required: Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of using equipment rental services. You can decline SMS and still use the services.

Branded Communication: All messages clearly identify YardHawk and your rental company as the sender.

Use Case Specific: Your consent applies only to the specific use cases described (PullTag or ReturnPing). We won't use your number for other purposes.
