Consent is collected verbally by staff when a customer is renting equipment. The staff member follows a script to ensure the customer understands what they are agreeing to.
Here is a simulation of the script our staff uses to obtain consent:
Staff: "To help you remember when your equipment is due back, we can send you a text message reminder. Is the number [customer's phone number] a good one to use for that?"
Customer: "Yes, that's fine."
Staff: "Great. You'll get a text a day or so before it's due. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can text STOP at any time to cancel the reminders. Is that okay?"
Customer: "Yes."
Staff: "Perfect. I've noted your consent in your rental agreement."
Consent is recorded in our system of record (Focal Point) and is associated with the customer's rental contract. The customer then receives a confirmation message.
PullTag (Yard Staff): Variable frequency based on order volume. Typically 5-20 messages per day during peak operations.
ReturnPing (Customers): 1-2 messages per rental contract. First reminder 24 hours before due time, possible follow-up if overdue.
Important: Messages are transactional and operational only. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS.

Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. YardHawk does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may charge for incoming text messages.
YardHawk SMS works with all major US and Canadian carriers including: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, Rogers, Bell, Telus, and more.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to your carrier's network performance and device capabilities.
Consent: By providing your phone number, you explicitly consent to receive SMS messages from YardHawk as described above.
Not Required: Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of using equipment rental services. You can decline SMS and still use the services.
Branded Communication: All messages clearly identify YardHawk and your rental company as the sender.
Use Case Specific: Your consent applies only to the specific use cases described (PullTag or ReturnPing). We won't use your number for other purposes.
